Sexten/Sesto

Sexten/Sesto is situated at 1310 meters altitude in a picturesque side valley at the end of the Pustertal/Val Pusteria, in the middle of the Dolomites Unesco World Heritage.
In the center of the village you will find 2 supermarkets, the butcher, the pharmacy, a bakery, 2 banks, various bars for a delicious drink, two hairdressers, the bus stop and the Museum Rudolf Stolz where interesting exhibitions can be seen.

Enjoy the unique view of the Sesto Sundial, the largest stone sundial in the world.

Numerous cultural offers are waiting for you.

The Museum Rudolf Stolz in the center of Sexten/Sesto shows works of the well-known South Tyrolean artist Rudolf Stolz and his brother Albert, painters of the 19th/20th centuries. It presents also special exhibitions twice a year with works by artists mainly from the Tyrolean region.

The international meeting of the Krampusse is crowned by an impressive parade.

The Library Claus Gatterer is dedicated to the international renomated writer which has been born in Sexten/Sesto, and houses his literary bequest.

Gustav Mahler Music Weeks in Toblach/Dobbiaco: At the beginning of the 20th century, Gustav Mahler spent for 3 years his summer vacation with his family near Toblach/Dobbiaco. During this time he composed his last 3 major works. In memory of this great composer, the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks were established in Toblach/Dobbiaco in 1981. This musical highlight takes place annually in the venerable Grandhotel Toblach.

The International Choir Festival was founded in 1998 and has attracted around 1,250 choirs from 49 countries with more than 65,000 singers. Every summer it presents a variety of folk songs, gospels and operas from all over the world by impressive performances in villages, churches, medieval castles, on lakes or mountain huts.

Not to forget the Monastery Museum in Innichen/San Candido with its extensive collection of manuscripts and the historic churches in Innichen/San Candido, such as the Romanesque Collegiate Church of San Candido, a three-aisled basilica with its remarkable late Romanesque frescoes.

For our sportive guests are waiting a generous ski area for young and less young, wonderful cross-country ski trails, ski tour and snowshoe hikes, summer and winter hikes, via ferrata, special mountain bike experiences, tandem flights and an attractive climbing hall.

Every year, the Drei-Zinnen Alpine Run is organized, one of the classics of mountain running and attracting families and athletes from 20 nations.

The Ski-Marathon of Pustertal/Val Pusteria, lately with start in Sexten/Sesto, is one of the most famous people's cross-country skiing marathon in the Alps.

Last but not least, the FIS Ski Cross World Cup races on the Haunold/Monte Baranci in Innichen/San Candido ensure exciting duels, varied courses and breathtaking jumps.
